Just realized…We’re probably the last generation that will remember what it felt like to be truly lost. Like, actually-have-no-idea-where-you-are lost. Our kids will grow up in a world where AI doesn’t just give you directions — it predicts where you want to go before you even know it yourself. Your car will gently suggest a detour to that bookstore you’ve been meaning to visit, or remind you that your favorite coffee shop has a 15-minute wait right now.
But here’s the thing that keeps me up at night: what happens to serendipity when algorithms get too good at predicting our desires? Some of life’s best moments come from taking the wrong turn, stumbling into unexpected places, meeting strangers we never would have encountered otherwise or discover quiet corners of ourselves that routine never reveals.
Maybe being lost isn’t just a state of navigation and isn’t a problem to solve. Perhaps its a fleeting luxury we didn’t realize we’d miss. 🤔
What do you think? Are we optimizing the magic out of discovery?
